Grian, pronounced “GREE-ahn,” is the Celtic Goddess of the Sun. Her father is the Sea God Manannan Mac Lír. If you’ve ever watched a sunrise on the ocean, you can understand why this Sun Goddess is seen as coming forth from the Sea. She is a Goddess of the Tuatha De Danann, or the Faerie People. The hawthorn tree and chickweed are her plant allies, and birds, especially any black birds, are sacred to her.

Grian is a Goddess of healing and protection, so she may be invoked for either of these purposes. If Grian comes into your life, she is there to help you achieve your goals through perseverance and determination.
