Fionn mac Cumhaill, pronounced “FEE-un MAK KOOL,” is a warrior and hunter God. He was the leader of the Fianna. The Fianna were the “lost boys” of Celtic society. Any young man who wished to prove himself could join the Fianna, who were roving bands of independent mercenaries. They lived in the woods, and may have been the archetype for Robin Hood’s Band of Merry Men. They made their living off of border raids, and occasionally kings would hire them as mercenary soldiers.

The name Fionn means “blond.” He is the God of certainty and skill, and for this reason he bestows confidence. Hazel trees are sacred to him, and the salmon is associated with him.

Invoke Fionn when you need confidence to complete a task. If Fionn appears to you, it’s time to party!
