Bran (pronounced “BRUHN” or “BRAHN”) means “Raven.” He is said to have been so tall that he had to live in a tent, because no house had ever been built that had ceilings high enough to accommodate him. He is said to possess the gifts of eloquence, and of strategy. He was High Protector of the British Isles. His severed head was said to have kept talking until it was buried. Although one legend says that his head was returned to Wales and buried, another legend has it that it is buried near the Tower of London, and the famous ravens at the Tower now watch over him and the British Isles.

Alders and elders are trees that are associated with Bran, and ravens are his sacred birds.

Invoke Bran when you need fierce strength and determination in the face of a challenge. If Bran enters your life, expect to fight for a just cause.
